Review: This how-to guide couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Fell in love with Mérida on vacation & knew right away this was where I wanted to live. I researched things to do in that part of the Yucatán & found Mexico Cassie on Instagram.
All the tips from her Mexico Cassie blog are expanded in this book, in a handy, easy to digest format, everything from first steps getting papers in order to buying a car (probably not going to do that). Although the guide says it is “for families” there’s plenty in there for those considering moving to Mexico without kids.
If you are thinking about relocating to Mexico grab this book before you set off on your adventure.

Review: The author goes into too much detail about their family life story, making it more of a biography than an informational moving guide for Merida.
Also, the writer’s tone is condescending and belittles the reader. After reading this book, I decided not to move to Merida at all.

Title: Excellent guide for families making the transition to Merida

Review: One family’s story of transitioning from the U.K. to the Yucatan. The author addresses safety and legal issues, schooling, shopping, and medical care, the top concerns any family has when moving to Mexico. The appendix adds detailed information from the author’s husband about the process of applying for residency and buying a car, both potentially frustrating experiences.
Moving to an ex-pat haven like Mérida is not without its difficulties. The author does a great job talking about some of the best ways to handle certain situations that arise. There is even a section which breaks down the yearly costs of an average family of 4, an extremely helpful bit of information.

Review: I moved my family from the USA to Mexico (though a different city) just over 3 years ago and this guide has it all for what you need to know to make your move a successful one. She not includes nearly every detail you need to know prior to moving here, but also how her family arrived at their decision to move to Mérida, stories about how the family adjusted, and even things you don’t even know you need to know!
I recommend it even if you are moving to a different part of the country, because the general details apply to all of Mexico. This guide will be useful even for those without families, due to the sheer amount of information within. I also love that Cassie tackled head on about how her children adjusted to life in Mexico and that she didn’t gloss over the hard parts. My kids are a similar age to Cassie’s and our family had similar experiences regarding adjustment. Luckily, Mexico is a welcoming place, especially to children. It’s an incredible place to make a life. Move to Mérida or Queretaro, where I live, and use this guide to get here as smoothly as possible.

Review: Whether you’re hoping of, dreaming of or planning for your move, you need this book. As someone who made the move without this book, I can attest to how helpful and precise it is, making it a lifesaver. Cassie is able to deliver information that is not only accurate, but thorough and all with her own stories and humor scattered throughout. She answers questions you didn’t know you had and lays out information in a way that is easy and fun to read. This book would not only be helpful for a move to Merida, but for a move to most any part of Mexico. While the book is geared towards families, the information and insight is perfect for anyone. Whether you live vicariously through the Pearse family or you make the move yourself you’ll be glad you did.

Review: This guide is equal parts entertaining and instructional. The start of the book hooks you in with their story about how they ended up living in Mexico and why they chose Merida over all of the other wonderful places to live in what is an incredible country. I felt like I was along for the adventure and then every question that I had about what it takes to actually move your family to Mexico was answered. Highly recommend this book whether you’re still in the planning stages or you’re ready to make the move.
