GEN Z ENGAGEMENT.
I've been asked this question more frequently "how do you effectively engage the next generation?" Infact someone recently said to me "we carry our youths along but they are not just interested."
There's a difference between Gen Z engagement and involvement. Most organizations confuse involvement as engagement and wonder why they are not getting the responses they believe they should from them. We must not mix program or event involvement as Gen Z engagement. So what is Gen Z engagement or how do we engage GenZ?
Gen Z engagement is about creating platform(s) that allows the youths in your organization co-create content with you. They have to be in your management meeting to discuss the problem and ideate with you. The ideation process is where real connection and engagement begins. The moment you take out Gen Z from the first two process(problem discussion and ideation) you are no longer engaging them all you will be left to do is involvement. Gen Z doesn't feel engaged or conencted when you bring them in at the implementation level of any project. This is because they are not "users" they are creators. They've got to feel they own it to use or push it.
The challenge here is that the current structure most organizations run have become too rigid it can't take in these youths to discuss problems and ideate. For some it's the fear of the disruption they can cause to their projects... Yet we miss a fundamental truth which is the fact that Gen Z are the gateway to the future. Infact Gen Z Engagement has to be part human resource curriculum because the survival and relevance of any organization depends on how much they engage and connect with them NOW. Now is the time for organizations to pay more attention to these amazing generation because IF WE DON'T ENGAGE THEM TODAY THEY WONT BE AROUND TOMORROW.
I will be sharing more in the coming days. If you have any question or want us to help your organization connect and engage more with Gen Z kindly DM.
