Iya Ni Wura (Mother is gold)
Mothers are jewels of inestimable value. She carried me in her womb for nine months and on her back for three years. I would never forget my mother for all she did for me.
An event took place in my life when i was about 8 years old, it really touched me and now I know how much my mum really cared for us and how precious she is. We were eating hot amala( a local yoruba food) on a cold night, it was very hot but we loved it, I doubt if we had fish with it that night.
I asked my mum if she has eaten, then she said to me once we have eaten then she is okay, I insisted that she must eat because I knew she hasn't eaten anything since morning again she said once we are satisfied she is.
Mum’s are the children number one fan, the child’s first love and the woman that can never break the child’s heart. Growing up, my mum gave me lots of advices some I kept, some I had hard time keeping. She talked to me about girls, money and being humble.
Mum taught me that no matter which position I find my self in life I should be humble, that I must work hard and pray in order to achieve success, also I should always love my family and most importantly I shouldn't play games with a lady I don’t love.
I remember when I was in primary 3 and I came 5th position, my mum said some thing and I ‘ll never forget. She said “ the person that came first doesn’t have two brains” She told me that I did good but I can and should try better next time. When I got to primary four I kept that advice to my heart and I came first in all three terms, I was promoted twice and was in primary 6. Up till today i never settle for less !
I still remember those rainy nights when mum would go out to fetch water from the rain so we could have some to wash clothes or bath ( after dis-infecting with detol) Mehn those days make me shiver !
I would never forget Dec 31 2012, the day my mum was in a little coma. I was working on releasing the latest version of Jobs In Nigeria app when I got a call that my mum had just been taken to the hospital. I took the next motorcycle and I rushed to the hospital.

I spent all the money from my personal account to pay crazy hospital bills just to make sure mum got the best treatment, I was in the hospital everyday and I lost my appetite. I spent my new year cross over with mum sitting near her hospital bed and hoping she ‘ll wake up. After spending about two weeks in the hospital, mum was discharged. I had never been so close to my mum like that.
I could have lost my mum that day, but I thank God she is alive. Don’t wait till your mum falls ill or die ( reality is that one day everybody would die) before you show that you love her. Take care of her, say goods things to her, encourage her, tell her thank you, tell her You love her !
I love you so much mum, You have been a my number one fan !!!
Thanks for your support/ advice / prayers / unconditional love and most importantly those delicious meals ( whether there is fish or not I don’t freaking care)
Love,
Tayo
