I think you’re right about the “product” thing. Your product needs to excite me to a penny out of me. And I think there can be a great transformation (even if just for a few serious outlets) if and only if they can properly analyse and understand their SWOT. The “New Shining Thing” thing both save and maim depending on how it is utilised. There are so many tools for success in the media industry but they are all used for the mostly “wrong” reasons first, and the rest later.
