From Books to Social Media, Activities to Interactions, We are All Programmers, Just with Different Means of Execution

Programming is not just something that software developers do. It is a fundamental aspect of human life, something that we all engage in on a daily basis. From the books we read to the music we listen to, from the social media we engage with to the interactions we have with others, every aspect of our lives contributes to our programming. In a sense, programming is creation, whether or not we use code to achieve it. We are all programmers, just with different means of execution.

When we read a book, for example, we are not just absorbing the words on the page. We are also absorbing the ideas and values that the author is presenting to us. These ideas and values can shape our worldviews and influence our actions in the future. Similarly, when we listen to music, we are not just hearing sounds. We are also experiencing emotions and being influenced by the messages and values that the artist is expressing through their lyrics and melodies.

Social media, also plays a significant role in our programming. The content we consume on social media can shape our opinions, our attitudes, and our beliefs. It can also influence how we interact with others and how we present ourselves to the world. Social media algorithms are designed to show us content that we are likely to engage with, which can create echo chambers and reinforce our existing biases.

Interactions with others are also a crucial part of our programming. The people we spend time with, whether online or in person, can influence our behavior and our attitudes. We may adopt their beliefs and values, or we may be inspired by their actions to make hopefully positive changes in our own lives.

Even our direct and indirect activities contribute to our programming. The things we choose to do, or not do, shape who we are and who we become. For example, if we choose to exercise regularly and eat healthily, we are programming ourselves to prioritize our physical health. If we choose to spend our time watching TV instead of pursuing our goals, we are programming ourselves to be passive and unproductive.

It is important to recognize the power of programming in our lives. By becoming aware of the things that influence us, we can make conscious decisions about what we want to absorb and what we want to reject. We can choose to surround ourselves with positive influences and engage in activities that align with our values and goals.

In conclusion, programming is not just a technical skill reserved for software developers. It is a fundamental aspect of human life that we all engage in on a daily basis. We program ourselves through the books we read, the music we listen to, the social media we consume, the interactions we have with others, and the activities we choose to engage in. By becoming aware of the power of programming, we can make conscious decisions about how we want to shape ourselves and our lives.

Thanks for reading! What do you think about the topic?
I also published this on my substack, you should probably subscribe to that 😄
