There is a whole multi-thousand dollar industry dedicated to exorcising dream lovers. They are believed to be lovers from the supernatural realm who take undue control over one’s life and can even deny one of the better things in real life. The dream lover gives you love in your dream, and no one can love you in real life. (The really jealous dream lover will kill any real-life lover who attempts to touch you in affection). The dream lover has children for you in the dream, you become barren/sterile in real life. The dream lover lavishly provides for you in your dreams, You end up very poor in real life! 😁

There’s a book by the recently deceased Nigerian author, Elechi Amadi, -titled ‘The Concubine’ — that is a great reference to a variety of this belief.
