Condom can serve as a "waterproof" for my phone on the sea, Kibwana Ali, a fisherman in Kenya said in a video posted on Tuesday by BBCNEWS @bbcnewspidgin on Instagram.
The "sheath-shaped barrier device" is widely known to be use during sexual contact between man and woman to primarily prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. However, in the second largest city Mombasa, after Nairobi the capital of Kenya, it serves as a life jacket for fishermen’s phones.
"I will pick a condom (male), and insert my phone and fasten it, inorder to prevent water from going inside", Ali said.
According to the video, rubber-like device is a safety measure that help connect with people on land should there be an emergency.
