The process and essence of salvation is transformation. A persecutor like Saul was transformed a few years later into a renowned preacher of the gospel who wrote up to 27 books of the new testament. Till now you cannot preach a complete gospel without referring to the works Christ did through Paul.

In my opinion the greatest disciple Christ had that was mentioned in the Bible was Paul and he didn't even get the chance to see Jesus physically and experience all the miracles while He was here on earth.

The transformation power of salvation comes through the Word of God. The amplified version of Romans 12:2, says "And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]", from this you can tell that the progressive transformation comes from the focusing on the Word of God.

Focusing on the Word of God allows the presence of the Holy Spirit to become more realistic and tangible because as we focus we become more spiritually mature and sensitive to voice, signals, and leading of the Holy Spirit. We would place more trust in the Word of God because it will have consistently proven to produce results as we walk in obedience to His instructions, and just as Jesus walked righteously and defeated the devil by solely depending on the Word of God; we would also live and righteous life and overcome every temptation of the devil as we depend solely on the Word Of God.

Believers and, in fact, every human on Earth are not created to rely solely on their own strength to navigate this world because once we do it's bound to failure already.
It's simply not the right way to live because we didn't create ourselves nor came to earth by our own strength, so why would you think of sustaining your life which you didn't create by yourself?

Your strength cannot and will never sustain or satisfy you. Even if everyone is in support of whatever you're doing and the Creator is against what you are doing; it will not succeed.
When I say succeed, I mean true success; that is success plus eternal life assured.

We can't live up to the top if we don't depend and rely on God by obeying and submitting to His Word for our life. You and I are God's masterpiece, His greatest creations out of everything He successfully created. So we have a rich deposit of Him inside us which we can access once we surrender our lives to Him and allow Him to lead us and teach us the where and how of accessing what He has deposited inside of us.

Allow Him to lead you and follow His leading because God's way Up is Down: Matthew 23:12.

Shalom ❤️🙏
