iDiots
iDiots is a short video realized by Big Lazy Robot VFX. According to BLR, our happiness was based on things we didn´t need and it was governed by entities we didn´t control.
iDiots can be seen as a tale about creative destruction. According to Wikipedia, creative destruction is a term which describes the process of innovation in market economy where new products destroy old business models. In opinion of economist Joseph Schumpeter, creative destruction is the essential fact about capitalism in which the entrepreneurs are the protagonist.
Meanwhile, Zygmunt Bauman, in his book Liquid Life, wrote that creative destruction is the modus operandi of liquid life. Nevertheless, this creation could destroy other lifestyles and humans who practice them. Bauman warns that life in liquid life was a sinister version of the game of musical chairs in real life. In this case, the prize was survival.
According to Adrian Wooldridge, editor of The Economist, storms of creative destruction could be more intensive in the future. This will make us iDiots. However, as BLR said, “We all have an iDiot inside, and it´s so fun!”
