Coordination of Hands, Heads and Hearts

Hello everyone, before I explain about coordination of hands, heads and hearts, let’s do a background check on this topic and understand how coordination of these resulted in self-management disciplines and regulations. After the World War 2, the American Soldiers who returned from the war had two things: a large pull of money and the other things is education. The formal education system at that time was very less and the people where aware that the world was not at the brink of any new world war at that moment. Therefore the money people had they invested in business and new industrial colonies took place but the commands and control was in military style. The people where told to come with their hands and the commanders will use their heads. Thus the American management system started. The system had good stability as one commander use to lead the whole nation and there was a stable growth too. There was no interference and the management went on its way for a time being of 30 years.

Within this 30 years, Japan stood up and saw the progress in American culture of living but it believed that why should we come with our hands, we should use our heads also!! Therefore it urged to the people of Japan to use their heads as well, that means, they requested to the poeple to propose ideas, to show creativity, their visions and thought process for better development. Then Japan grew in this way as it had “We Consciousness” as they believed to be a society culture whereas the Americans believed in “I Consciousness” which was Individualism. Therefore it was seen that Japanese culture grew up within a few years. They involved their people not only through work but also through creativity and the management system of the Japan — “Total Quality Management” System (TQM) stood up.

Therefore we see the Americans had stable growth like for creation of car would take 18 days and Japanese introduced pipeline management system and increased their efficiency to 18 hours a car. The Japanese use to follow their famous technique called “KAIZEN”(KAI: CHANGE,ZEN: GOOD; the change for good) which helped to see a rapid growth in life. Thus world started adopt the Japanese way of growth and soon it was everywhere. This also went on for 20 years but there was a problem. The problem was:-

When too many heads get together, EGO starts clashing!!

Therefore it was seen that even the good business, start-ups and communities started to fall because of ego. Therefore the organizational world wants more than just hands and heads, they wants HEARTS of people! Therefore if you go out today and grab a book from bookstores or shops, you will find my books on how to connect our heart to our business, our soul to our business etc. These books are in demand because the moment a person connects his/her heart to work, they start to understand the problem at emotional level too and thus clashing decreases. Now, let’s understand what I mean by heart here:-

The very first point is RESPONSIBILTY, How can we make people responsible?? Now a days it’s seen that people ready work (give hands into task), think ways to implement(use heads to process) but are not ready to take responsibilities(put heartful effort to work). Poeple are scared of responsibility, they run from it but in current scenario, without responsibility no work can be implemented successfully.

The next point is COMMITMENT, How to make people committed?? People do start a work and the believe that they will do but they commit they will complete it in a given span of time. Poeple are not setting deadlines, therefore they are not able to measure their progress and remain as they are. Therefore the problem of PROCASTINATION shows up. This also has many type of side effects.

The third point is MOTIVATION, people are demotivated towards the work. Let me give an example. Suppose there is a man returns home from work on a Friday evening and he has got Saturday and Sunday as holiday. If we ask him “How does he fill today??” Then he would say he is very happy and would let us know about his holidays for next days and his plans with his family. He is highly motivated. If the same person is asked how do feel today after he returns home from work on Monday evening, he would be completely demotivated. He would be tensed about the busy hectic schedule he has the whole week.

Therefore hearts into work means responsibility, commitment and motivation. Therefore many Human Resource Developments work a lot to make people understand the heart in work but after the training programs it was found very few people are only being able to show fruitful result. Therefore the organizational work finds methods to bring heart into business and thus LEADERSHIP stands out for the work.

A good leader knows how to lead with care by walking not front or back but with the team.

This technique is really very helpful and if we again revert back to history of India. The was a concept of Gurukul System. Children from all sorts of family use to come there irrespective of caste, be it a child of a Brahmin or prince of a kingdom they would all come and their identities would be hide. They would be given different name by their teachers and all would be treated equally. This was done to teach them Self- Management. There was no exceptions for any one be it a son of a king or a priest. They had to do all kind of things. Even Sri Ram use to help the other students at the Gurukul to clean the floor and the cottage rooms. Even Sri Krishna use to go to the forest with his best friend Sudama and collect the dry woods for the buring of the cooking in Ashram. This was self-management. They were taught this because at the time they are ready to become a king, they would know the value of these work. Thus we see the whole turning towards Indian Wisdom. Therefore people believe that Indian Ethics and Values and so beautiful that we can get know how to self-mange. Thus self-management teaches us the way to do a thing, how to think about it and justify the work’s value. Thus this concept is from ancient India. People therefore use to believe:-

India will be a guiding light for the whole.

This turned out to be true. India has power of wisdom to control it’s people. Therefore Western world is getting pulled towards India and India had the culture of self-management. Thus the Japanese although had the ego clashes, they could control themselves to some extent do to MEDITATION. Meditation is a technique to relax mind and effectively use it for the betterment of the society and find solutions. Mostly after a busy day our mind gets tired and discharged. Then work mind starts to go in search for short term pleasures and get distracted from life goals. Therefore the way to charge our mind is meditation. Thus if we charge our mind, whatever the work we may have we can be successful.

In this world most of the people are under sadness and they have lost their motivation to work. Therefore from where do we et this motivation, there isn’t any school to teach us that. This motivation comes from inside. If we carefully do introspection we will see that it needs CONFIDENCE and job SATISFACTION. Today, people have lost their SELF-CONFIDENCE, therefore in order get self-confidence, people need KNOWLEDGE. But it has also being seen that people with knowledge also have less confidence because the knowledge is only in the superficial level. Thus, when people digest the knowledge then they become powerful. Therefore it is said:-

Knowledge is bright, knowledge is pride!!

Self Confidence helps you to understand your inner strength!!

Therefore knowledge increases the will power or awakens the WILL POWER. Hence develops confidence within ourselves. Thus when we have will power and confidence we take an initiative to do work. Therefore we bring CHANGE to our work. If we keep on working on this, we master the art!! We get CONTENTMENT. This contentment brings new EXPERIENCES and this increases our knowledge and ANALYTICAL SKILLS. Thus the cycle goes on the coordination of Hands, Heads and Hearts. Thus we say:-

We of Motivation!

This We of Motivation comes from within(The Self). Then the motivation created from inside changes from motivation to INSPIRATION. Then the person doesn’t feel hopeless but rather feels HOPEFUL. Thus it helps us to understand our inner quality and we can change our situations in a POSITIVE manner. Then it won’t be a superficial change because most of the time we try to take things from outside and we get entangled in them, we find changes in us in emotional, intellectual and physical way of work doing skills. This all happens for temporary change and as soon as the pressure is released we get back to our original form of laziness.

Be so positive that negative people don’t want to stay with you!

All the laziness is because we don’t have the understanding of the knowledge of being in consciousness. Thus we need creativity and newness in thoughts. This results in better growth in emotional, intellectual and behavioral skills. Change is the need of the hour.

Once there was a battlefield ship going on it’s way to the war. The night it left was a stormy one and they where not able to see the things clearly. The captian on the board set the compass and decided to set the ship in a particular direction. Then the sailors on the hail checked that the ship was directed towards a far light and danger(red) was the colour shown. The captian was informed immediately about the light. The captain ordered to send a message. Simultaneously a message was received to change the direction of the ship by 20 degree but the captian was furious and didn’t do as told. He sent another message to the light and that it was battlefield and won’t change the direction but got the same reply again. On the third time the captain ordered that its battleship and therefore it won’t change direction. The reply was the liht was from a light house and how it can change its direction. The inner meaning is the captain was not trying to understand the other point of view but when he released his mistake, he rectified it. Therefore the thoughts of positivity results in good results which help us to increase the self mangement through self-consciousness.

Change is the only Content!
