I was really impressed when I watch the video of Tim Urban in the TED talk show, where he talks about the Procrastination and how the mind of procrastinator works. Its very common in most of the people when they are planning to do some important works and then the Procrastination knocks their door and carries their mind away from their primary task.

After learning the techniques from the video, I able to understand this concept and after that the Pomodoro technique to deal procrastination mentioned by the Professor Barbara Oakley in “Learning how to learn” helps me to implemented it in my daily routine for doing my work in a more efficient way.

In Pomodoro technique we first divide our work load into chunks of 25 minutes and after 25 minutes each, the person should refresh him/herself through any activity like web surfing e.g Facebook, whatsapp, Chitchat with friends, cup of tea/coffee, walk, and listening a song etc. This break should be 5–10 minutes long and then you go back to your work again. And the one more thing is that when you complete your 4–5 chunks of 25 minutes then you need to take a break of 15–20 minutes.

I would like to share one of my experience when I implemented this Pomodoro technique. Currently I’m doing job and the professional development course in the Amal Academy at the same time and in the initial days of Amal fellowship I found that Its difficult for me to do these two things at the same time because the work load of my job and Amal academy (especially their project works which need 8–10 hours minimum for each project and we have 2 project in a week ) is very difficult to manage for me.

First of all I make a list of my daily tasks on daily basis and put a deadlines on it then I prepare myself for this, before the beginning of the work, I try to log off my all applications of social media which create any distractions so that I focus on the work in more effective way.

Actually, I want to share my schedule just for an example. My job timing is 08:30 am to 5:00 pm and during this period of time I try to spare minimum 1 hour (25 minutes + 25 minutes + 10 minutes break) from my job work, either at break timing or any other spare time on daily basis so in a week I collectively utilize 6–7 hours from my job work for my project works of Amal academy. During this I sometime face many distractions through job duties but my job is my first priority during the working hours so I compensate it by utilizing the any other spare time and after that we spend 2 hour on each day for the completion of project work at home. During this time I’m very serious to do this work and also about the application of this technique. During the break time i often used Facebook to check my notifications or listen my favorite songs to boost or refresh myself and to give a little reward to my brain. But after that I again go back to my work.

I am very surprised when I see the things happening within a deadlines so this technique helps me to be more productive in my life and managing my important tasks.
