Identifying the best use cases for Automation

Do you miss some background on what ROI means, especially in the context of Automation? Check out my previous article on the topic.
I have been relatively prolific in the last year automating several of my IT related activities, some for work, and others for my personal life style.
This xkcd illustrates perfectly one of the common questions that arises.
One thing that helped me with this, and to get better at automating what matters, and extract more value from my time has been an ROI calculation model I’ve implemented in a spreadsheet and has been iterating on since then.
It’s simple, requires only few informations about the automation use case, and delivers several indicators including the time to Break Even, the Time to 10x Returns and more, allowing you to choose the best use cases.
It then also allows to compare several use cases and identify which ones are ripe for automation.
I’ve adapted the model into different versions for specific situations, such as the case of an enthusiast automating their work with a low code solution, a developer automating their own work, all the way to a larger scale Enterprise type of automation projects.
Each model also contains a comprehensive help showing how to apply it, otherwise you can reach out to me directly for support.
You can name the price that sounds fair to you, considering the time you’ll save automating the most valuable use cases.
