“for God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him would not perish but have everlasting life”

is this Love ?

From what I have gathered, Love is a very intense feeling. I suddenly feel sad for anyone that has not been loved. it’s the kind of feeling that prioritizes who or what you love. it’s the kind of feeling that no matter what kind of situation you keep your lover out of harm’s way. it’s that beautiful.

I remember this period when I was younger I was seeing a particular guy. I really liked him or I thought so. He made me smile, He was funny, Things were kind of easy with him, He was smart, He was kind of my spec and a lot more. On one particular day, He said he loved me . On hearing this, I laughed and brushed it off, He said it again ; He was looking more serious and determined. This was where I knew he wasn’t joking. I was shocked, surprised perplexed even. Thoughts like “How can you love me” started swarming my head. I was at a stage where I was very attentive to the words people said to me. Like? Love? I was not even sure if I liked him. And here he was Loving me.

At this discovery, I was in utter shock. How?Have you ever heard the saying ? “Friends we can pick, Family we can’t” That’s practically how it works not being able to choose who we love. I’m sure many of us have seen Hollywood movies where the Prince falls in love with a maid and there are so many obstacles just to keep them apart but somehow they up together regardless of their status, age, religion, race, tribe.

This is a vivid description of the Love of God. He loves us regardless of who we are, what we have, what we have done. The kind of love that cleanses and makes you whole and complete. The kind of love God is calling us to. The kind of love we should embody as sons and daughters of God. The kind of love in John 3:16.

“for God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him would not perish but have everlasting life”

Have you ever wondered what the Gospel is all about ? I would like to say the Gospel is all about Love. The greatest commandment in the Bible is “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind” The Gospel is so simple that all I can take from it is love ; The God I serve is a very loving God, that He left His throne to come and live on earth as a human being and die for people that don’t care less about Him. He went through everything ; the pain, hate, suffering, temptation, betrayal, denial and to top it , He was crucified.

If you have a friend that can die for you or if you can die for your friend ! Please let me know in the comment section. I don’t think I can die for anyone and I don’t know anyone that can die for me . it doesn’t make you a bad person, This is just to explain the type of love God has for His children ; Even when you are not aware of it , He loves you anyway.

And the only thing we have to do in return is love Him.

“love your neighbor as yourself” I always wondered why this commandment was part of the commandments. its natural to think that as Humans we are supposed to help humanity(each other). But since the fall of man. Strife, Sin, Envy, Pretense, Deceit and the rest took the order of the day.

The kind of love Paul talked about to the Corinthians that suffers long, doesn’t envy, is not puffed, that has no buts, doesn’t behave rudely, doesn’t seek it’s own. This is the kind of love we are supposed to embody, express to others especially unbelievers. The kind of love that wears the silver lining of Faith, Hope, Grace and Fulfillment in the word of God.

As believers, we are supposed to represent God on earth in the most christ like manner. Loving our neighbors as ourselves, Caring for our neighbors, Being our Brother’s keeper, Looking out for each other, Having each other’s back, Being a friend in need and in deed.

The Gospel message talks about how God sent His son Jesus to come and die for our sins and save us. How the Blood of Jesus has redeemed us and how Jesus has paid the price for our sins and set us free from condemnation . Show me a greater love than the love of God? yeah, I thought so too.

I hope you had a wonderful time reading about the Love God has for you. Don’t forget to clap as many times as 50 ! and let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
