Welcome to the May 2023 internship cohort!

We onboarded 63 interns for the May 2023 internship cohort.

After spending the past few weeks engaging and reviewing interns picked by mentors, we were grateful to welcome these interns and mark 1000 interns at Outreachy.

It’s about to be another fantastic three months with these amazing interns!

We have been planning, as organizers, and involving volunteers working with us to celebrate the Outreachy 1,000 Interns celebration worldwide. The event goal, in summary, is to celebrate Outreachy’s milestone of 1000 interns and foster bonding and networking among Outreachy mentors, community coordinators, alums, and interns.

Following the signup from folks in the Outreachy community, we have volunteers and leads to lead in different locations.

Outreachy 1,000 intern celebration will be an hybrid happening in seven countries wordwide and also virtually.

I’ve also been supporting past interns by handling one-on-one sessions with them. These sessions have been tremendous as we get to discuss their journey so far, and I was able to encourage them on the journey ahead.

At the launch of the Women TechMakers Karu branch, Abuja FCT, Nigeria, I was opportune to speak on a session titled, ‘How to stay relevant in the tech space.’ I highlighted some factors that can help folks at different tech levels, beginners, intermediates, and experts, stay relevant in their career paths and tech ecosystem. Most attendees interested in the opportunity provided by Outreachy also got some insights on how to go through the application and which cohort is best for them based on their time commitments.
