I respect your opinion. Your opinion is that the government has no authority to infringe on the right to bear arms. Your opinion is contrary to that of the late Justice Scalia, as indicated in his opinion in Heller which I quoted above and I’ll quote again: Scalia said, “the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited.” Your opinion is also at odds with that of the NRA’s Chris Cox, who just this week said drinking and carrying firearms defies common sense and the law. Your allies on your position are few and far between. I guess all I can do is re-iterate what I said above, which is that I truly think there should be a pathway for some people to own some guns and that we can probably have the most liberal gun laws in the advanced world while tightening the line enough to reduce gun deaths. It doesn’t seem like you agree with that idea, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
