Impress colleagues with your image during video calls by following these tips

Most people are not paying enough attention to their image during a video conference. You have an opportunity to stand out and let your video speak for you. These are the key things you need to know.

Video is your new clothes

In the old times, before the pandemic changed our world forever, we had to choose what to wear to work. Our clothes represented our personality, we made sure it was all ironed and looked good.

These days when we are working remotely, some of you might still wear a nice shirt and a suit but I don’t believe you have trousers, shoes and all. I would bet you have just shorts. Thinking about that, I’m wondering if I was ever on a videoconference with someone who did not wear anything from the waist down. I hope not.

What we see from our colleagues these days is limited. Some have just a headshot, some have a black screen with their name on it, and some are willing to share their video even if with just a virtual background. But it’s always just the head, chest, and sometimes hands gesticulation if they are angry or Italian.
