Designers dont always have that power. You can kick and scream in the meetings, produce many versions etc. The client sometimes just has the drop on everything. Assuming you were told about said meeting, invited to it and everyone there understood what you as the designer can bring to the table and respected that. In many situations, its at best unfair, to place this level of pressure on a single designer and judge so harshly.

In an interview setting, you would want to explain how that situation came about. I dont meet designers who are lazy, who dont care about the end result, their process or other teams processes. They are hard working people who care deeply about what they do.
