Turmeric As Medicine

If I told you that you already a magical cure-all in your pantry, how excited would you be?

There’s a beautiful golden powder that can treat headaches, swelling, depression, and brain fog. There’s an herbal root that can fight cancer cells, act as a super anti-inflammatory, all while keeping your blood-sugar levels in check.

It’s not prescription…it’s not even Over The Counter.

It’s TURMERIC! You know that flavorful, pungent powder used in curry dishes? That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Turmeric has been used traditionally in India and other Asian countries for thousands of years as a source powerful tool for healing with nutrition. For one, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant. It attacks neutralizes free radicals and prevents them from further damaging your body. It also contains over 20 anti-inflammatory agents, which means that turmeric can will decrease pain and inflammation (including those horrible migranes)! If that wasn’t enough, studies have proven that the curcumin in turmeric can prevent and treat colon cancer, mammary cancer, prostate cancer, and even oral cancer. Further studies have even compared turmeric to common pharmaceutical prescriptions and have proven turmeric to be as successful as medical grade drugs in treating diabetes, depression, pain relief, and cancer.

In daily life, turmeric is the perfect element to give your day an added boost. You’ll give your liver enhanced detoxing ability, you’ll have greater daily energy, and you’ll just feel overall…better!

Golden Detox Lemonade!

This is a drink that I try to enjoy every morning. It wakes me up, clears my brain, and gives me energy for the rest of my day! Simply, mix the juice of ½ a lemon in a tall glass or mason jar of filtered water and 1 tablespoon organic powdered turmeric. Stir (or shake) well and drink up! Sometimes I’ll add one tablespoon of wild raw honey if I’m craving sweetness or I’ll add 1 teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt if I feel fatigued.

Golden Latte!

This is another drink that I love to make. It’s a wonderful way to incorporate turmeric into your day. It’s perfect for cold and rainy days, a treat before bed, or an alternative to morning coffee. To make a Golden Latte, mix 1/2 cup full fat coconut milk, ½ cup filtered water, 1 teaspoon organic turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, 1–2 tablespoons wild raw honey in a saucepan. You can also add ½ teaspoon of freshly grated ginger if you want an added kick or if you’re aiming to Heat the mixture until it is at a desired temperature and enjoy! The black pepper in this drink will help make all healing elements of the turmeric more bioavailable for your body!
