I had once wrote an article about a ban for a Motivator or Public speaker to ask for forgiveness when speaking in a seminar or training. However, “is it true that public speakers can’t asked apologize in any context?”

“No” The answer are. There are 3 conditions where a public speaker can also apologize in the training that he did:

1 Discuss Things That Should Not Be Spoken
When you are going to discuss what might be not allow to discuss, but it is important to say, then you can start with a forgiveness statement. Example: You are using an illustration of a sex story and this should be conveyed because it is closely related to your point. So you have no choice of stories or other illustrations.

2 Tells a Sensitive Stories
If there are sensitive but important things to say you can start with Apology as well. For example: You discuss the things your audience likes (not your opinion)

3 Scolding the Participants
There are times when you have to tell things that are not pleasing to you by the participants and you have no other opportunity to speak, other than when you speak.

You should also start with an apology. For example: The event starts at 09:00 but the attendees arrive at 10:00 you can “scold” them by giving an enlightenment about the importance of discipline as a key factor in the success of the job.

I once did this, while delivering training in a ministry where attendees arrived late and the show had to wait for their presence. It is also important to understand that if you are forced to do this you must tell the reason you scold the participants, also inform your positive intent to the participants.

And how, you can relate it to the topic or give some positive examples that they can set a benchmark.
