Ya know? I’ve felt this way a long time when it comes to the old 9–5. All this hustle and bustle pretending to work hard at something you only mildly enjoy for unappreciative and often rude, discourteous, disrespectful jerks.. no thanks. I’ve learned “be flexible” and “pick and choose your battles” were jerks catchphrases for “let me treat you how I want, disrupt your schedule as it suits me and for god’s sake don’t put up a fuss”. One naive but veteran-in-the-field new hire piped up in Preservice to drop this gem: “I hate lazy coworkers”. Funny enough I had just read an article on Medium about how labeling others (in the workplace) “lazy” is in itself .. lazy, and was all too happy to share. Wiped the smug expression right off his hearty face. Hard work is valuable and worthwhile, sure. And you should work hardest for yourself. Your aspirations. Preservation and enhancement of your health. I think by now we understand others also benefit when one is at ones best.
