Power conference coaches wasted no time contacting Johni Broome once he entered his name into the transfer portal. Broome, who stands at 6'10" and 235 lbs, is the regining Ohio Valley Conference player of the year averaged a double-double for Morehead State putting up nearly 17 points & 11 rebounds per game. With two years of eligibility remaining, coaches not only know that Broome can immediately step into impact their team this year, but also be a building block and stability for the 23–24 season if he elects to stay in college.

Broome recently cut his list down to eight schools with Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, Florida, Houston, Auburn, Memphis and Kentucky the schools fighting for his services for possibly the next two seasons. With a final list of schools that are all huge names in the college basketball world, Broome obviously has to be a special type of player. Although he does not yet have a three-point shot in his arsenal, Broome is a guy you can throw the ball to on the block and feel confident he will get you a bucket. Additonally, as mentioned earleir Broome is a menace on the glass, averaging nearly 11 per game. You see the points and you get excited, you also see his rebounding numbers and imaigne this guy could be your team’s missing front court piece, but the most impressive stat is Broome’s block numbers from the 21–22 season. Broome averaged 3.9 blocks per game, which was third in the entire country this season. That elite number for a guy that is not quite seven-feet tall puts him in “must get” territory for just about every school in the country, as evident by his final list.

Look for Broome to make his decision in the next few weeks, and ultimately being one of the most productive players in college basketball next season.
