Some people leave their hearts in San Francisco; I left my heart in Italy. When Derek and I got married in April 2017, we wanted a simple City Hall wedding so that we could have the honeymoon of our dreams. Italy was the perfect romantic destination to start our new life together.
Since moving to the Bay Area in 2016, I kept hearing people rave about Bali. Bali was the new “it” destination to find yourself on your spirit quest. When cheap flights to Bali coincided with Derek and I’s one-year wedding anniversary in April 2018—we said hell yes!
Work brought me to Berlin for a week in September 2018 and I was excited to return to a place that bursts with so much creativity. I’m not qualified to explain how the eclectic mix of history has shaped the present day, but Berlin’s grungy spirit mixed with the lingering summer weather was an intoxicating combination that left me wanting more.
Don’t be like me the first time I went to Berlin. I was confused why there were so many Soviet Memorials in East Berlin 🤭.
TL;RD East Berlin was the name of the eastern part of Berlin between 1949…
Living in San Francisco these past few years has dramatically redefined my relationship with the outdoors. Derek and I have the privilege of living one block away from Golden Gate Park and the Pacific Ocean is a short bike ride away — what a dream. The Bay Area’s natural beauty fuels my curiosity and often leaves me wondering what our next adventure will be.
After car camping at Yosemite NP, Lassen NP, and Half Moon Bay State Beach, the next thing I wanted to try was backpacking. Backpacking has always been intimidating to me because you can definitely nerd out…
This post is part of a larger series documenting a road trip around Iceland in the Summer 0f 2016:
We flew non-stop from San Francisco (SFO) to Keflavik, Iceland (KEF) and somehow the flight was faster than traveling to the East Coast. The highlight of the flight was flying over Greenland. The moon was on one side of the plane while the sun was rising on the other. It was a pretty magical.
For our anniversary in 2015, Derek surprised me with a hand-drawn map and two DIY tickets marked for a future date. “We’re going to Iceland!” he exclaimed as tears of joy rushed down my face 😭. After months of planning and immersing myself in all things Iceland, we finally embarked on our journey to the land of fire and ice in July 2016.
We planned a 10-day trip that left us with 8 full days in Iceland. We chose to drive the Ring Road (Rte.1) since it conveniently connects visitors to Iceland’s various natural wonders.
We flew WOW air…
