Review: Cristina Curp is truly a genius when it comes to cooking. I have been on AIP for a few months and have been missing a lot of the comfort foods I used to eat. This book has a lot of tasty recipes that satisfy my cravings. Everything I have tried has been excellent.

Review: I love Christina Curp’s cookbook “Made Whole.” I have some food sensitivitie, and I’m diabetic, which means my diet leans toward clean Keto. Made Whole is an autoimmune keto combo cookbook, so it’s right in the middle of what I need. I love this book so much that in the early days, before I started using it, I inadvertently bought a second copy, just because it was visually so attractive.

I’m not a gourmet cook, and the thing I hate most about cooking is food prep — peeling and chopping and slicing and dicing, and especially fresh herbs, which I can’t keep fresh in my fridge for longer than 45 minutes! Yes, some of Made Whole’s recipes require such attention. But I find a lot of the dishes are so freakin easy, and they all, so far, pack a punch in the flavor department. The recipes consist mostly of ingredients you already have, and are made wonderfully flavorful with spices and herbs from your cupboard! Curp’s Carne Molida and Pickled Red Onions should be weekly staples to cook up and keep on hand, and her Feel Good Soup has gotten me through a couple of bouts of just feeling crummy. Her Ginger Sauce is a spicy, Asian-inspired dressing for everything; a couple of other sauce/dressing recipes have also caught my eye. And did I mention the Coconut-Braised Curried Chicken?

Beyond the recipes themselves, the author gives readers a brief introduction to healing protocols and why you might need one, a basic “avoid” list for autoimmune, and a sane and healthy breakdown of various levels of the ketogenic diet(s). She offers menu plans for kid’s keto, a keto reset for adults, and an autoimmune protocol, all keyed to recipes in the book. In addition she describes a well and simply stocked kitchen and pantry and advises her readers to listen to their own bodies to guide their healing journey.

So whether you’re on an autoimmune plan, a keto plan, or a combination of both — or if you’re just looking for a simpler way to cook healthy — buy “Made Whole”! It’s worth it.

It makes my cooking so much easier since I have many food sensitivities. If you have food sensitivities or allergies this cookbook is a must!!! Review: My husband is a big cross-fitter/paleo health nut, so I purchased Made Whole because it seemed like something he’d be in to. This is the very first cook book I have purchased in my 34 years. Before now, if it had more than two ingredients and couldn’t be made in the microwave, I did not eat it! I mean, I’m one of those people who can’t even boil spaghetti. It’s bad, folks.

After having kids and transitioning to the stay-at-home-mom role, I decided it was time to learn to cook for my family. And anyway, I think my husband was getting tired of those one-step prepackaged meals.
I was super nervous to try my first recipe so I chose the simplest chicken dish I could find in the book (but trust me, they’re all pretty simple). I had literally only baked chicken once in my life and it turned out completely raw in the center, so I was pretty scared I was going to give my family salmonella….What came out was a perfectly cooked, crispy chicken and delicious veggies. My very first meal was a huge hit and every one since has been just as good!

What I love about this cookbook:

1. It’s pretty fool-proof. I’m horrible at cooking AND following directions, but somehow, every recipe I try from this book turns out perfectly.

2. The recipes are easy to follow. Cook books have always been super intimidating to me.. “Grease this while that marinates overnight, zest this while that soaks, chop these and whisk those”! All those instructions overlapping and words I have to google gives me major anxiety, but these recipes are EASY! And Easy without being boring or bland. I love the way the ingredient lists are laid out and instructions are clear, precise and easy to follow.

3. You don’t need fancy equipment. When I read the names for some of the recipes in this book, I instantly thought I was going to have to go out and purchase cheese cloths, dehydrators, chef’s knives, etc. In reality, I haven’t had to purchase one new kitchen utensil.

4. The food is DELICIOUS. Really. I was skeptical about keto-paleo but the recipes are really really good..and I’m a carb fanatic.

Bottom line, there’s a reason this cook book is rated so high. Try it, you can’t lose!
