Sand Checkers! — Photography by Mohanram Sathyanarayanan of +Inspired Vision Witnessing storms roll into death valley is by itself a rare sight. With the storing El Nino pushing some good storms into the basin, there’s for sure, no rarity in rain clouds.
Having reached the parking lot almost an hour before sunrise, preparing myself to take the long walk in search of dunes without footprints, I noticed that I was the only person parked at the lot. I started my lone walk in the dark, crisscrossing waves and waves of dunes, until I reached this spot.
The foreground formations were made out of extremely fine sand accumulated by the rains. I personally love the way the patterns in the foreground leads the eye through the picture to the peaks in the background. The rising sun did enhance the palette, but it was very shortlived. — Mohanram Sathyanarayanan
