Pop… Pop… Ding… Pop..
These are two different sounds of notifications appearing on my phone, and it’s these sounds that I have been listening to for the last few minutes, sitting in my chair in silent wonder. It honestly still surprises me a bit — even though it really shouldn’t — that a plethora of people is interested in helping us, to help the world become a better place.
This brings about many euphoric moments for both me, and the people surrounding me: everyone working on the Opakeco foundation and platform.
Velocity and Traction
It has only been a few weeks since the Opakeco foundation was made known to the world. And yet, in this little time, we have seen genuine intrigue, interest and a desire to help.
Slowly, people have gotten started on reading the white paper; slowly, people started trickling onto the website and watching the introductory animation, and slowly, people are asking for ways to help the foundation make its vision a reality.
Now, a week into our public journey, the foundation is gaining speed; velocity is rising, and traction is forming.
Feedback, questions and, of course, answers
The team has worked very hard to answer all incoming forms of feedback and questions from the community. And while these are things that we love giving replies to, we love getting this information in a more publicly accessible location even more!
A frequently asked questions section is underway, and will be available on short notice. Furthermore the whitepaper has been updated to state things more clearly with additional explanations added.
Anyone is naturally still welcome to ask any question via any of our social media channels.
To add to this: anyone can join the public Slack of Opakeco, simply by signing up at:: https://www.opakeco.org/join-slack.
Development
The smart contracts are partially done. Afterwards, the reviews will be done by external parties, advisors and, naturally, community members. They all need to be ready, reviewed and audited before the ICO launches, to prevent anything malicious from happening.
The ICO is planned on the 1st of September.
To re-emphasize something that everyone probably already knows by now: the Opakeco foundation leads by example; its vision is full transparency and accountability. This means that we will make sure everyone is kept up-to-date and that the foundation is fully transparent and accountable..
Growth
Every single day, the amount of things to do seems to increase, and every single day, everyone works hard to complete the Opekaco mission, It’s a positive point when people like the foundation vision enough to lend a helping hand. This is why I am happy to announce that the Opakeco foundation is welcoming two advisors to its team.
Koen Basten
Koen is a computer scientist with an interest in the creation and distribution of the world’s food supplies. He has been active in the field of aerial photographic and satellite image analysis to aid farmers in optimizing crop yields and decreasing pesticide usage.
He loves studying new computer science concepts, including but not limited programming languages (and the design thereof) and statistical analysis tooling.
As an advisor of the Opakeco foundation, Koen will be helping with the development of the platform and the realization of the Opakeco foundation mission to further humanity as a whole.
Bart den Hertog

Future steps
We will continue working hard to achieve the Opakeco foundation mission. Code will be continuously updated on Github, and efforts will be made to contact various organizations that are already helping.
Everyone at Opakeco hopes to be able to welcome you in our little community. Do feel free to drop by in any of our Slack channels with a question, or perhaps even a single “Hi!”.
