openBoM for Production and Build Process Planning. We are looking for beta testers…
I wanted to share a bit of exciting news with you to start the week. openBoM will soon be coming with a new set of functions designed to help engineering and manufacturing teams manage production and build process planning. The number of small hardware teams and manufacturing companies has continued to grow over the last decade. We recognized there is a need for production functionality by speaking to many companies using openBoM.
Having a means and process for managing parts, Bill of Materials, production batches, and order BOMs is a vital requirement within any given manufacturing team. As we approach our Beta release with production functionality, we would like to speak to more companies interested in using openBoM to manage their production environment in such a way that it connects the following groups of people together:
1- Designers and engineers working with CAD and other design systems;
2- Supply chain, procurement and part ordering departments; and
3- Manufacturing and part orders.

Is there any missing element we’re going to deliver? Yes! We are working on an openBoM module to manage production batches. This module will allow you to create Order BOM for a set of units to be manufactured.
