Fascinating and inspiring creativity — love the idea and am interested to learn more as it unfolds. The only thing I would call out / question is the comment on wealth accumulation. I see this is as more of an aside than something necessarily central to the project… The argument offered by the author(s) about the accumulation of wealth has two flaws for me.
The sutta-reference provides a helpful scriptural and traditional context, but clearly isn’t sufficient in itself (“The Buddha said it was OK” is hardly consistent with the principles of investigation & wisdom core to the practice). The second point, “The central issue is that wealth should not be blamed or discouraged, but that it is accumulated and used in ways helpful to the Noble Path” is limited by the fact that it doesn’t account for or address systemic issues related to the accumulation of wealth. I’m not clear if this would apply within the KRM/Lotos network — as its a different currency—but looking at the current corporate capitalist economy, it’s clearly not enough to say “great to accumulate wealth as long as you use it for good” without also critiquing a system in which wealth can only be accumulated based on the existence of a lower class with less access to resources.
I’m not an economist or political scientist, so my grasp of these ideas is rudimentary at best. Hoping these comments land as a contribution to the conversation, as I very much see and support the intent behind this project: to create a system that works against the very inequality, oppression, and siphoning of wealth that exists in our current world.
Thx for reading.
