I Say to the Tree
I say to the tree, hello.
I say to the tree, good morning, good dawn.
I greet the tree in the morning.
Inside me I make the place of union.
And I say to the tree, we are of one body.
My roots are your roots, and your roots are my wings.
I say to the tree, we are born together.
I will be your senses, your legs, I say to the tree.
And you will be my roots and branches, leaves, flowers, and the unity.
And when I see, you will see; and when you sense, I will sense.
I say to the tree, you are my adored one.
You travel with me always. Your roots are in my heart, and your heart becomes my roots.
I say to the tree, I am grateful, to walk and stand, and learn together.
Now and always, but especially this morning, now.
I say to the tree, thank you for the beauty and blessings you give so freely, for nurturing many lives. Thank you for the calm depths of your shade, for your shelter, for your endless gifts to our people and ancestors. For that secret nectar you draw down from heaven and transmit to all places and moments on Earth.
And my roots become the tree’s roots, and my legs become the tree’s legs. I am with the world-forest, the unity of the trees and plants. And they are in my body, as my body.
I say to the tree, as I take some sap, and place it in the three places: with this I join with the world-forest; roots, trunks, branches, flowers and fruits. We are one body between us.
With this I join with the origins and purposes of the world-forest. Now we are together, always.
And with this I join the allies and companions of the world-forest; among kin one is recognized.
And my roots are in the earth. And the sun, through the branches makes a starburst, which is a rainbow made of moving strands. My trunks rise everywhere to know the light itself. Of endless branches and all their adornments I become.
And there I disappear.
