It was not so long ago that JQuery was one of the most popular and used web frameworks in web development. Almost everyone used it in the 2010s. And it is still to date web framework implemented in the largest number of web applications. However, things started to change a few years ago.

The beginnings

Before the implementation of ES5, Javascript was ridiculous, there were almost no standards. Javascript lacked key functions, that were common in other languages making development lengthy, and frustrating.

Functions for working with data, we use today daily, were missing. Forget using forEach, for … of, map, reduce, and many more. With that said working with DOM was an almost impossible task, as DOM API was in the early stages of development.

This meant everyone who used Javascript had to develop these basic functions on their own. For this reason, so many frameworks occurred at this time, among them JQuery. These frameworks share some similarities, but they satisfy the needs of the author rather than being complex solutions.

The uprising

JQuery covers a wide range of DOM functions necessary for making the app responsive without the need for always sending new pages…
