Day 2: Happiness
It is clean shaven legs
Or when even though you aren’t asleep by 3am, you have peace of mind
It is massaging your feet by walking on gravel and sand
And getting to eat the slightly burnt part of the bottom of a pot of jollof rice
Happiness is having a friendship where you don’t need to have the last word
It is the surprise of hearing a Nigerian accent portrayed accurately on a big screen
It is a baby’s breath
Or seeing your data come together to make a story
It is stepping out of your house when all your fears tell you to stay under your covers
It is the smell of fresh soil after rain
And the taste of a Jos tomato
Happiness is knowing that you are flawed yet still so beautiful.
