Day 43: Talents
The Master and her apprentice reside within the realm of the abstract
She is the vanguard of the purest form of art
She is responsible for ensuring not a single drop of creativity from the pool beside her throne is spilled into wastefulness
What does this ‘wastefulness’ mean, the apprentice asks
Time has honed the master’s discernment
She is aware that what others may view as arid could sometimes be the most thirsty receptacle, which when watered produces the brightest blooms
‘What do you see’, she asks
Her and her apprentice gaze over the puzzle that stretches below them, as far as the eye can see
This puzzle was created over centuries
The apprentice knows to look beyond the beautiful picture before him and search around and within the details
‘Master’, he responds, ‘some pieces in the puzzle are missing…and other parts are blurry’
Master smiles and turns towards her apprentice to explain
This arises when a person dismisses their innate talents and forces themself to fit somewhere they don’t belong
Their part of the picture, while still beautiful, is blurry at best
And a gaping hole is left where they were meant to be
That is wastefulness.
