Day 58: Virtuoso

Creation is a spiritual process

In that moment in time

The artist

With their gift

Connects us with our deepest emotions

Before we know it our tears are flowing freely

And even if we leave the venue as heavy as when we came

We know that someone else understands

Someone who wrote words that we couldn’t articulate, or didn’t have the courage to speak

Someone who painted a picture capturing the abstract and undescribable colours in our deepest thoughts

Someone whose voice pierced parts of our soul we thought were long dead

Someone who placed an artistic touch upon us, all the way from the pedestal of the stage

Creation indeed is a spiritual process

The creator pours their heart and soul and energy and time into their craft

Songs and lyrics and paintings are produced from pains and pleasures and perseverance and peeling

Peeling away the layers of defensiveness and armour

To leave a naked and raw core

To unveil a spirit who finds solace in wrapping its arms around itself

And producing art that wraps its arms around the hearts of those who are open to its ministry.
