Day 60: #OscarSOwhite

In the year 2116

Jeremy sat staring at the mirror in his trailer

He knew he couldn’t afford not to take this role

Mildly unsettled as he was

Well, he wasn’t the decision maker

And being only a few months in this industry

AND having scored the role of a life time

Who in their right mind would jeopardize this luck by questioning the powers that be?

A knock on his trailer door alerted him that filming would soon begin

‘You are a young promising actor, and the best is yet to come’

He said out loud

As he gazed at his lily-white reflection

Taking in a deep breath to calm his nerves, he felt ready for his first day of shooting this biopic

Based on this individual who had meant so much to so many people over the past two centuries

He quickly stole a glance at a huge poster of the character in question, which he had pinned up on the inside of his trailer door

Then looked again nervously at his white skin

Well, if the others hadn’t noticed, then it should be fine

Slightly puffing out his chest, he exited his trailer with all confidence

The door closes slowly

On the door hangs a poster of a man

Standing very still

His arms held up to his chest, hands clutching each other

His skin, an unbroken golden colour

His name, autographed at the bottom of the poster:

Oscar.
