I was waiting for a twist in the end, for some highlight to give a new meaning to all the words…
Morning Glory

In this case I was writing what has literally happened after the death of my father few weeks ago. Every single line is based on something that has happened. Our pain as a family, and our hope that all the wonderful words spoken by family friends will keep coming ‘even after the dust settles.’

My inclusion of a very typically Nigerian food, ‘jollof rice’ is giving the poem a cultural context- there is a very peculiar way we Nigerians treat the subject of death... I wanted to include this as a silent plea of some sort.

This poem was written (just like many in the days before this) out of my deep pain. It would be interesting to take a look back at how some of them can be improved later on. Thanks for your feedback which I appreciate :)
