Love this — curious if anyone has also used this as a defining distinction between a “Product Designer” vs. “UX Designer”?
My current prevailing thought is a UX Designer should be motivated by what is best for the user and serve as the premier user advocate while a Product Designer must also balance what is best for the business.
Product Design relies heavily on UX/UI/Interaction and Visual Design while balancing various strategic initiatives owned by business development and senior stakeholders.
Both roles are similar but the genesis of the “Why” may sit at slightly different places on the sliding scale of what’s best for the user vs. what’s best for the business.
In a perfect world, the two would perfectly align but I’ve yet to find a product where that’s always the case.
