Clavicle Hook plates are the plates that are used for beneficial fixation devices for clavicle fractures and severe acromioclavicular joints dislocations. As per the trend, major scientific researchers have found that subacromial portion of them may introduce acromial body erosion which further leads to shoulder impingement or even the rotator cuff damage.

Although we have many processes, the clavicle push plate often comes into work many of the times. By the sonographic process test, we can hence intend to determine that the presence of a hook plate may induce subacromial shoulder impingement and its relationship which is relative to surrounding subacromial structures.

There are various methods, and the following are:-

The scientists have followed all the 42 patients among which there were 32 men and 10 women among which the 32 unstable distal clavicle fractures which are called as Neer type II and type III and there are 10 AC joint dislocations (Rockwood type III) which are further treated with clavicle hook plate which is placed in between Dec 2007 to Jan 2010. Now all the patients were informed that the plates are sorted to be removed out after the body union or the so-called ligamentous healing which was achieved on radiography and are not planned to be retained for longer than 6 months period of time.

Surgical Procedure

The hook plate implant which has been modified stainless steel, which is further curved 3.5mm dynamic compression plate with a hook-like structure extending from the lateral ends. So as of different hooks have different hooks length which is used in the surgery, but in this, it can accommodate two different depths of 15 and 18 mm thickness of the acromion process. There are two different kinds of holes available which help in plate lengths of six and eight holes.

The clavicle fracture is found in many cases where the patients with AC dislocation are advised to removing the plate of 3–6 months postoperatively, and the patients with the distal clavicle fracture were told to remove their plates at least 6 months after the fixation of their injury and hardware fixation too. At the final visit before the removal of the implants, all the patients were examined carefully under proper controls and measures for better security and results for both the active and passive shoulder ROM. The constant Murley shoulder score and Disability of arm shoulder and Hand (DASH) score were used for global functional assessment as well.
