Linh Dao thanks for notifying me of this new post here. Greek mythology (and Etruscan/Roman equivalents combing to form Classical mythology) are the best known form of Indo-European mythology.

Athena does represent the inclusion of men. This is in stark contrast to to Artemis who represents the exclusion of men. Out of the 12 Olympians and 8 or so more equivalent deities due to all the variations in the list, about roughly half of the top of the pantheon are female. Each goddess have their own pros and cons depending on the type of feminism one subscribes to.

Values chastity? That would be more accurate for Hera, than Athena. Athena is more sex-negative and devoid of sexuality entirely than simply being chaste. The “virignity” of each of the virgin goddesses is different among Artemis, Athena, and Hestia, but they all share in that vow they made.

I gave the link because it gives a story of Zeus taking the form of Artemis in one story. The story’s subtext is the technical virginity of Artemis. So, a woman sleeping with Zeus breaks her vow of virignity, but the implication that the woman was a regular lover of Artemis gives the technical part in the technical virginty.

I don’t need to go into detail about why Aphrodite would be controversial and the feminist love hate relationship with her. Rather than Artemis who represents the exclusion of men, Aphrodite is a base breaker among feminists (as given by the links above).

All that aside, Hera is your dutiful wife, Demeter is your devoted mother, Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, and each goddess has their own character.

All of the above goes to show why Aphrodite could be considered the most feminist of the goddesses. Any and all goddess do have their pros and cons ultimately, so all goddesses have their feminist points.
