I’m looking for power

I rather have power over money

Power is better than money. Money can buy you power, but if the well runs dry, you can’t get any other thing. But if you have power, even without money you can find a solution.

This is not about money. I’m looking for power. I’m looking for influence. I wanna be an influencer. I wanna be a powerful man. I wanna be one of the greatest. And why? Why am I looking for power anyway? What am I planning to do with it?

Frank Underwood has been a great professor. Following his saga over 5 seasons in House of Cards I’ve learned a lot about power with him. His manners, his tones, his ring tap. I’ve started to copy his posture on the daily basis. At work, at church, at home. Not his temper but his posture. It shows some power, some dignity, some worthiness. His temper is dubious, and the usually teaching is how not to deal with people. But his impressive manners are respectful.

A fond and dear friend of mine told me tonight that my manners are very different. He saw growth, progress and maturity, just as I was walking from the gate throughout the yard. As we talked, he understood that my search for power is reflected in the way that I’m behaving and how good it’s working on reflecting my truth. Your truth: this is powerful enough to make you go and search for what you want.

Even so, that doesn’t respond yet to the question: why am I looking for power? I think the appropriate and accurate answer is I’m willing to do whatever it is so I can serve people better. You might not want to believe but this is not about me. I just happened to notice an opportunity and took advance of it. Not everybody has the chance to pursue power, but everybody should have the right to be represented.

I know that sounds like politics, but isn’t that everywhere? Politics are ruling the world in every sphere of society, and it should be something good. Whatever access to power we might have should reflect the chance to be good for the powerless. That’s something I learn from the good example of Jesus, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther, my father. Whatever it is the amount of power you have, you certainly can influence people for the good. And that is why I’m looking for power – so I can influence good.
