Tula State University (TSU) is Tula’s largest state university. Tula State University has around 20,000 students, 400 postgraduates, and 600 international students from 30 countries studying MBBS in Russia. The university is made up of nine faculties, a medical institution, a pre-university studies center, a regional center for professional development, and 73 departments. Tula State University’s history begins in 1930 when the Council of Labor and Defense established the Tula Mechanical Institute (TMI). Since October 1, 1930, 240 students have studied at the institute in four specialties: cold and hot metal processing, tool fabrication, and machine-tool construction. Without their own academic buildings and dorms, 35 teachers trained specialists for Tula’s defense companies in 8 departments.
