How did you get here? | どうやって来ましたか?

こんにちは。お元気ですか?Hello, how is everyone? 寒い中ミーティングに来てくれてありがとうございます。Thank you for coming in such a freezing cold afternoon!

We practiced some short dialogues using How どうやって (dōyatte) to ask the way of transportation.

A: どうやって図書館に来ましたか?(Dōyatte toshokan ni kimashitaka?)
-How did you come to the library?
B: 歩いて来ました。(Aruite kimashita.)
-I came by foot.

When using verbs like to walk 歩く (aruku), to run 走る (hashiru), and to drive 運転する (unuten suru), conjugate the verb in -te form.

走って (hashitte) by running

-Sounds good. How do we get there?
A: バスと電車で行きましょう。(Basu to densha de ikimashō.)
-Let’s go by bus and train.

The phrase どうですか?(dōdesuka?) can be used to suggest something like 'How about~?'

A: ここからどうやって家に帰りますか?(Koko kara dōyatte ie ni kaerimasuka?)
-How do you get home from here?
B: 飛行機で帰ります。(Hikōki de kaerimasu.)
-I go home by plane.

-Have a safe trip!

お気をつけて!(Okiwotsukete!) could be equivalant of the following depending on the situation.

Formal form is 気をつけてください。(Kiwostsukete kudasai.)
