Get to know the Colorado small business owners meeting Tim Kaine tomorrow in Denver
Tomorrow morning, vice presidential nominee Senator Tim Kaine will be in Colorado meeting with this small handful of the 560,000 small businesses in Colorado at Primus Aerospace in Lakewood. The businesses span several different key industries in the state, including aerospace, renewable energy, outdoor recreation, and technology.
Niki Koubourlis founded Bold Betties in 2014 in Colorado. Bold Betties began as a Colorado Meetup Group of women exploring the outdoors together. It has since grown to a site where women could purchase or rent the latest apparel and gear for adventure travel and outdoor activities — such as backpacking, camping, hiking, rock climbing and paddle sports — for a fraction of the retail cost. The company’s mission is to empower women to live adventure experiences that build their confidence and reinforce their independence. Niki is a registered Republican who is proudly voting for Hillary this November.
Susan Brown is the founding principal of Valerian Architecture. Valerian designs water conscious landscapes to encourage people to interact with their physical environment. The company has been recognized for its sustainable principles. Susan uses her extensive background in landscape design to create sustainable designs incorporating Low Impact Development (LID) and Best Management Practices (BMP’s) throughout the front range of Colorado, Washington, and Argentina. Susan is a lifelong Hillary Clinton supporter.
Somair Riaz is a serial entrepreneur and the founder of Skindroid. He also works as a physician and a scientist with multiple patents. He made the Top-40 Healthcare Transformers list for year 2016, and his startup Skindroid made the Top-50 startups to watch list for year 2016. Skindroid produces thin film technology to uncover insights in athlete workouts and prevent injury. Apart from his entrepreneurial endeavors, he also runs a non-profit 3D printing makerspace, and volunteers as a Sunday School teacher for youth. Somair is a refugee from Pakistan, who first arrived in the United States in 2008.
Randy Brodsky is currently the CEO/President of Primus Aerospace and Primus Wind Power, each headquartered in Colorado. Primus Aerospace is a Turn-Key Provider of AS9100 Certified High-Precision, High-Complexity Machined Components, Kits and Sub-Assemblies to the Aerospace, Space, and Defense Industries. Randy has spent the past 18 years in the manufacturing industry and has both acquired, divested and founded several businesses over this period.
Alex Valdez co-founded EcoMark Solar in 2010. It’s one of very few Colorado owned companies that sources, designs, sells, and installs their own solar systems. Their goal is to provide precise information on solar panel systems that are designed to save homeowners the maximum amount of money and help them gain energy independence.
