The 5am Club
So if you read my first post you’ll know that I’m a real estate agent. One of the best trainers in my industry is a bloke called Tom Panos. He’s a great human whose been through some tough times himself. He has pioneered what’s called #the5amclub for those who want to be successful in the real estate game.
Do I wake up at 5am? No. I wake up at 5:30am every morning now which is close enough for the time being. Will I ever wake up earlier? Probably. In the last 2 weeks of waking up at 5:30am, having pre-workout, going to the gym, having a protein shake, eating a healthy breakfast, meditating, and then going to work I have found that I’m never in a rush. I feel good and healthy all day long. I get compliments like “you’re an inspiration”, “you’re looking fit”, and “what the the hell happened overnight?” (that last one was courtesy of Bec as I woke up this morning). These compliments, along with the clear structure and obvious health benefits is more than enough to keep getting me out of bed every morning nice and early.
Why is it so important to work out in the morning? I will give you a 2 pronged answer — 1. Win the morning, win the day: I have 5 things that I do every morning now (religiously, but not because I’m not religious) and they are — 1. Make the bed, 2. Go to the Gym, 3. Meditate (with an app called Calm), 4. Shave and, 5. Dress to Impress. Every morning at 8:10am I’m out the door and ready to tackle another day in the whirlwind that is real estate… I’ve won the morning! 2. The morning is the only part of the day that we can control. As an agent my phone may ring at 9pm at night, or I may be delayed at a listing presentation until 8pm. Aint nobody going to the gym after a 14hr day of sales stress (at least not this body). But one thing I can guarantee is that I won’t, you won’t, nobody will be bothered by a client phone call or urgently needed at 6am in the morning (look away if you’re a doctor).
So to cut a long story short — although becoming truly part of this club has also gained me easy access into the 9pm sharp club for sleeping, what I achieve during the day, and the benefits that I am seeing physically certainly make me realise that #the5amclub is here to stay in my life, and for good.
