Out of the Shadow
Shining light on how a serial rugger became the “Zach” of Sei
TLDR: Shadow is a serial scammer, who pivoted a rug to extract more capital out of the Sei Ecosystem. Seidow’s twitter is linked to rugs that trace back to the 30% Seidow holder who recently nuked the project. He’s still a large holder in Seidow and his future NFT mint and products may be not be safe.
As the Sei Network has been growing in popularity recently, a new influencer has come into the spotlight for his project Seidow Token, and his seemingly altruistic determination to identify rugs and warn others. Not much is known about Shadow, whom some have coined the ZachXBT of Sei. His tweets only go back to the beginning of this year and a deeper search in Twitter replies only reveals a thirst for Egyptian women (see above — NSFW) and the Real Madrid FC.
But that’s neither here nor there — I’m getting ahead of myself, so why don’t I start from the beginning.
Shadow first came onto my radar when discussing the new Seidow launch in a small group chat on Telegram. My friend Josei (a self-proclaimed Seiscan sleuth) warned me of some suspicious trading activity he noticed when the token began to gain volume after it’s initial dump. He mentioned one wallet continued to bid nearly $5,000 worth of tokens, around 30% of the supply, while there was less than $10,000 in the liquidity pool. He followed up with the dev (Shadow) and despite his denial, he still wasn’t convinced. He said, “the dev called himself based, run away” to be precise.
To be fair, it’s not unheard of for teams to buy up their supply in an effort to supply shock their token and in some instances it can be pretty bullish. However, a “based dev” who claims to be an early ETH, BNB, AVAX, SOL, and SEI investor denying it was him because he, “…don’t have 5k to put honestly” seemed a bit suspicious. My curiosity got the better of me, so I began to look into the buyer’s address and Seidow token more closely.
When looking at the Seidow buyer’s wallet, something immediately caught my attention. The wallet had previously launched the rug $SEITYR and after buying $5,000 worth of Seidow, appeared to be in the process of launching a new rug called $SEIJURO. It’s already strange for a random buyer to be loading that much into a new Sei token, but for the buyer to be someone launching rugs made me all the more skeptical. In my experience, if a scammer is trading a token so close to launch, especially with that much size, it’s usually their token. It got more interesting as I started to dive into where the scammer/buyer received the SEI from but I’ll get to that later.
The first thing that stood out with Seidow token was how low effort it all felt. There was no website made, the Twitter account only had a few posts (despite having been created in April 2012), the logo was uploaded with imgur (commonly used for low effort rugs), and they didn’t even bother changing the marketing description from when they copied the code over from $SEIYAN’s contract. Seidow token has since launched a Zyro builder website and updated their logo, seemingly with even less effort than the original. Despite all these red flags, the SEI sent to the Seidow’s dev wallet was from a CEX or bridge and without better analytics tools on Sei, the trail ended there.
After my initial findings, I shrugged Seidow token off as a likely rug, and assumed Shadow would eventually nuke their 30% bag, delete socials, and everyone would move on to the next play as most degenerates do. But that’s not what happened. Shadow began showing up on my timeline over and over again. Usually to post inaccurate information about a project being a scam. While I thought Shadow going around tweeting ill-informed FUD about new launches would tarnish his reputation, it seemed to have the opposite effect. He began building a cult and amassing a large following that would go from group to group spreading his FUD.
Shadow was clearly using this as a means to build clout for himself and bring attention to his token, without caring about the damage it could cause to other projects and people’s investments. My distaste for Shadow continued to grow as his name would pop up more and more, knowing he was most likely a scammer whom at the last minute realized he could pivot a hard rug into a much larger con. But it wasn’t until I saw the comment below by Shadow that inspired me to share the information I had with the public and to look even deeper into his operation.
I couldn’t sit idle and let Shadow rug the Sei Foundation of any grant money, so I began gathering all the information I had, and started to investigate the breadcrumbs he’d already left behind.
One red flag that helps me identify rugs early is when new launches use recycled Twitter accounts. The scammers use old accounts that already have hundreds, if not thousands of followers to try to make their project look more legitimate, but come on, really? Who in their right mind believes you’ve been planning a Sei memecoin since 2012? Using a past Twitter username tool that stores the Twitter ID and usernames of previous scans, I ran shadowseidow to see if I could find any previous aliases link to his ID.

Bingo! Now we’re getting somewhere… I knew Seidow launched with a b instead of an n typo in their name, as can be seen in Shadow’s tweet below. Adding some validity to the results thus far.
And a quick Twitter search for Seitadel and Seitoshitoken should hopefully turn up some results.
As you can see in the screenshots above, although all the tweets have been deleted, some of the Twitter mentions have updated to show the changed usernames. Unfortunately, I’m unable to wayback archive Twitter search results, so there is a chance my search results might differ from yours. But at the time of my search on 01/07/24, both seidowtokeb and siedowtoken can be found in the results tied to these tokens and the timestamps correlate with the last checks on the username tool. Looking through the posts, I found Coinhall links to both tokens.

So far I’ve revealed that the Seidow Twitter account is linked to two previous rugs, but a brief glimpse at connected wallets showed a much more prolific scammer than I had anticipated. As I dug deeper into where these wallets received their SEI from, I began to uncover dozens of rugs—some launched before Seidow and some even launched after. So I set out to map all the linked wallets and rugs I could find to see if any were connected to the 30% holder I had believed to be Shadow all along.
The list of connected wallets and rugs was endless (scroll to bottom for full list), nevertheless after hours of reviewing Seiscan, there it was, Shadow’s rug Seitadel linked back to the 30% holder, the smoking gun.
It turns out Shadow bought from two different wallets, but sold the tokens early in one, while transferring out all the tokens from the other. The next step was to see where those 302M SEIDOW tokens ended up and if Shadow is still holding them. The first place I would normally look is a token’s holder list to check the distribution and see if it was obvious where the tokens were moved to. Unfortunately, Seiscan doesn’t make this easy. So I recruited the help of some friends again to run a query on Seidow’s holders.
When I first began gathering this information on Jan 7, 2024, Shadow had already started to move the tokens around the day before, in what I can only assume was an attempt to cover his tracks. He had sent the 302M tokens from the buyer wallet, to here. He then proceeded to divvy it up in the following breakdown:

I know the screenshot of Seidow’s holder distribution had already floated around a few group chats, so I’d begun to suspect it made it’s way back to Shadow. For the next couple days, I continued to monitor his wallets to see where he dispersed tokens to.
I highlighted the wallets above that I could track back to Shadow’s original 30% wallet. There is a good chance I missed some as everything on Seiscan is starting to blur together by now.
***BREAKING NEWS***
In the midst of finalizing this Shadow exposé, it appears he has nuked the majority of his holdings, while still holding on to one top wallet for good measure. They showed screenshots of a conversation with a “J” who claims to be the 35% Seidow holder, which I have to believe considering it would be impossible to fake such a conversation or for this J to actually be Shadow or a team member. The timing of this dump coincides with the release of their Dune holders list. Coincidence? I re-ran the holder query on Seidow to see how it compared with their published dashboard. Strangely, Seidow’s distribution looks a lot better than what I’m seeing on my end. When checking their query, it immediately becomes clear as to why.
Seidow’s dashboard only queries for holders where their balance is below 2%. This conveniently hides the top 3 holders, one of which we’ve traced back to Shadow.
I hope by now it is clear as to how big of a hypocrite Shadow is and that his operation needs to be stopped. He’s gone from a serial scammer to a massive con artist, whom at this rate might take down all of Sei with how big of a following he’s amassed and the network he’s grown. He has already dumped tens of thousands of dollars on his holders and I’m certain he won’t stop there. I know many will be blinded by bag holder bias and some quick to forgive, but if you continue to support him and his projects, I can assure you, you’re gonna have a bad time.
I’ll wrap this up with a few final pieces of information. A transaction from one of the linked rug wallets (also happens to be the wallet he sent all the SEI too that he just nuked), that I believe to be 3,052 SEI sent to Shadow’s CEX before he sent 2,052 SEI to the Seidow deployer (and no I’m not talking about the Seidow he launched and rugged two hours earlier). I don’t know what Shadow’s obsession with the number 52 is, but you can see in all the data I collected at the bottom of this page that it’s a common occurance.
