It’s probably a mixture of all those things, but what I encounter most frequently, especially since working on an MVP, is the focus on most critical functionalities, completed with the minimum engineering effort. The designs are complete, but the “nice to have” parts are always pushed to later versions. When we get to the later versions, there’s almost always something else more important to do. What gets implemented is driven by business and market, and that’s fantastic, at least for the first releases where having a product is more important than having a nice product.
