The Apple Watch is the only smartwatch worth buying

For the last few years, I’ve been using a Google Pixel — but I recently switched back to the iPhone because there’s one thing that bothered me the entire time: there aren’t any good smartwatches available for Android, because the Apple Watch only works with the iPhone.

This year, after trying a ton of competing smartwatches from companies like Garmin and Samsung, I finally decided to switch back — so I could buy an Apple Watch after the company unveiled its latest version, the Series 7. With a larger screen, fast charging, and an always-on display, I wasn’t willing to wait for Google to release its own competitor any longer.

The motivation behind the move was simple: I wanted to be able to go running and leave my phone at home but still be able to listen to music or podcasts, take calls or send text messages if I needed to. It’s a pretty lush complaint, but I was tired of strapping my entire phone to my arm just to track my run and listen to a podcast.

The Apple Watch is the only smartwatch that gets this combination right, while also acting as a well-designed watch I’m happy to wear all day at the same time. Because it’s equipped with cellular connectivity, I can literally grab my earbuds, fire up Pocket Casts or Spotify on my wrist, and walk out the door to start running, without messing around or even…
