Yes, if we focus on the right problems to solve. As you and I both know, we just need to look beyond our industry bubble.

I recommend reading Doughnut Economics if you haven’t already. It lays out an economic model that we should all be advocating.

I’ve been trying to incorporate it into my strategy work. I think any organisation that’s serious about creating a better world needs to ensure four fundamentals are considered:

  1. Everyone has access to the resources they need to live a healthy and fulfilling life
  2. We lead a lifestyle that is good for us and the world around us, both now and over time
  3. We live in cities that are designed for us, can sustain us and the world around us
  4. We have a government that’s effective at maintaining the systems that meet these needs

Obviously none of these criteria are currently being met at a global level, but it’s essential they are if we really want to improve the situation we’re in.
