You’re not alone there. Especially when my mood just changes with the flick of a switch it seems. There’s a bad stigma associated with mental health. Most think you can just think your way out of it, and for some they can. But for others who have dealt with it for awhile — especially with the stuff we’ve been through, it just isn’t as easy.
My husband noticed that I was going through a particularly down phase and suggested going off antidepressants to see if that helped. It made things worse. He felt terrible he had even suggested it. Luckily he’s very understanding — as well as one can be when they don’t actually have experience with it. And for that I’m thankful.
I’m sorry to hear about the “secrets” you’ve kept hidden all this time. It definitely takes a strong person to openly admit that.
