Mother Earth

We’ve been hearing a lot the words environmental collapse, global warming, climate change, and the eventual fall of our civilization

Even though there is a discussion about “if-it-is-a-man-made-global warming-or-not” for me, personally, this discussion is a waste of time, energy and a distraction to the fact that we have been, for a long time, damaging poisoning, burning forests and sublimating species to maintain our lifestyle and our linear production system.

Planet Earth and it’s billion years Ecosphere is reacting to the invasion of men made Technosphere. If it us the ones warming up the Earth or not, I won’t be willing to discuss it. There is a lot of work to be done and no time to point fingers.

Earth response to human activity can be felt by an increasing number of facts such as food shortage, severe droughts, fast floods, superstorms.
Ecosphere is fighting back technosphere and besides this war we still living like we have more than one planet to provide the resources we need to keep our inefficiency. By struggling with inefficiency and to survive in this economic chaos we lost the connection with Earth.

Attention-Action-Presence-Educating for Action.

Attention will bring back connection. We need higher education in a way to bring back attention and connection between Humans and Planet Earth.
Free Environmental Education and open data resources for research and interaction can be applied in a way to provide an opportunity to anyone who is seeking answers to change their actions towards the environment.

One good thing is that we see emerging new approaches, as spillover effects, such as the regenerative economy and agriculture, creative commons, transition towns and many other initiatives and technologies being developed to protect our planet and change our ways.

Some of those emerging initiatives are originated from Environmental Tech Companies such as Sintecsys, the company I work for.

Respect-Recognition-Monitoring to Care.

In Brazil, we got a great number of environmental protection areas and national reserves and parks but we are failing with the monitoring of the carbon reserves from our country. We are not taking proper care of the buffering areas from the reserves and the vulnerability spots around those areas.

Education to Action and Monitoring to Prevention.

Those are the two pillars we must act to face the long and short-term hurdles of our time. Education can bring awareness and in the long term, people might stop competing against Earth. Monitoring the Environment can prevent environmental disasters in times of change and challenge for the human race.

We must recognize that all life deserves respect be it a plant, an animal or a human being and by doing that we might reach a higher ground of interaction and harmony with our planet and the people from all over the World.
