If you e-mail this article to somebody who gently suggests (on hearing you complain about your megalopolis rent for the umpteenth time) that you move to some place that doesn’t cost quite so much, said somebody is going to hope you sent it as a joke.

To say that this is not representative of people that move to cheaper areas would be a vast understatement. Most people buy a livable house, move in, and maybe do some minor redecorating. What they DON’T do is completely ignore all common sense and backup money by the truckload into a ramshackle disaster better torn down.
