It’s important to get the small turnips; the larger the turnip, the more likely it’s going to taste like a raw, old, turnip smells.
But yeah, the smaller ones? They get downright sweet when cooked for a long time; not at all what you think of when you think “turnip”. I add them alongside the potatoes, carrots, and onions in my pot roast and they taste divine.
